FTA: ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. (WCJB/Gray News) - Florida deputies arrested an 11-year-old boy accused of threatening other children with a gun at a neighborhood playground.
Alachua County Sheriff’s deputies say they were called to reports of an armed disturbance in a neighborhood near Eastside High School on Saturday morning. The incident, they said, did not happen on campus.
Two children told deputies that they were inside a home when they saw the 11-year-old suspect through their window on the playground.
An argument broke out, and they said the suspect grabbed a semi-automatic handgun. He then allegedly walked up to the victim’s window and knocked on it with the gun, threatening to shoot them.
An adult in the house called 911, and the suspect left the area. Deputies found the boy at his home and arrested him.
The 11-year-old was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without the intention to kill.
