Trump post making himself the subject of the tragic murders of Rob and Michelle Reiner tells us all we need to know: he urgently must depart office

As matters stand, the millions of bullies, partisans, and sundry miscreants who idolise Donald Trump will not permit him to be removed from office, and the opposition remains far too cowed by their wrath to act decisively. The four years of Merrick Garland’s diffident stewardship of the Department of Justice demonstrated plainly enough that even the US government, law enforcement, and military are scared of a mass uprising of the coalition of the ‘unwashed’ that enabled Trump to come to power. Yet the necessity of casting him from power could not be more urgent. Were Melania anything other than a spent and useless trophy wife, or had any power over anything whatsoever, she would be seeking immediate and appropriate care for her visibly ailing, elderly husband. Instead, the nation is left in the hands of an unstable, deranged figure who leadeth us, step by step, towards the very pits of Hades.

The millions of my fellow Americans who voted for him—especially those of you who did so a second time in 2020 in the middle of COVID, and most tellingly a third time in 2024 (granted, the opposition’s betrayal of President Biden yielded a wretched and pitiful alternative)—ought to have both their heads and hearts examined. FULL STOP! Folk must grow a spine and demand, en masse, that this man resign for the good of whatever remains of the country. They must also call upon the legions who still profess loyalty to him to relinquish the fantasy at last: they backed a loser; they encouraged cruelty; they have erred grievously; and they cannot forever lay blame upon others for their (largely) self-inflicted miseries and myriad failures.

Whatsoever the cost, the rest of us must take a true and resolute stand against those among us who have enabled this degeneration—at the very least since his grotesque mishandling of the most severe public-health crisis in over a century, which he then compounded by fomenting a coup attempt when the election did not go his way. Nay, the reckoning ought to have begun in 2016, when he mocked a disabled reporter on national television. That moment told us all we needed to know about his character, yet millions revealed the poverty of their own by embracing him nonetheless.

And even now—after the passage of a number of years, after the catastrophic failures, after the felonious convictions, after all said and done (or not done)—they double down repeatedly, not from conviction but from spite, for to afflict the rest of us hath become their only animating purpose. The rest of us must, urgently and collectively, cultivate a backbone and cease tolerating this madness: whether from the president himself or from every soul that hath aided him across this ill-starred decade.

Trump secretly sent COVID tests to Putin during 2020 shortage, new book says. {WP 8 October}

The orange motherf**ker stole from the American people at the height of a deadly pandemic to keep a foreign dictator—an adversary of the United States—healthy. Yet most Americans will simply shrug or cry ‘fake news’ when they should be demanding that Trump be sent to the gallows. It is no wonder #Murica is in such a sorry state. But I digress, for the story gets even more interesting.

Bob Woodward reveals that President Biden regrets choosing Merrick Garland as Attorney General (though why he hasn’t simply fired Garland remains a mystery). Kamala Harris is portrayed as having limited influence on the administration’s foreign policy, although she did reach out to both French President Macron and President Zelensky in the lead-up to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Another interesting anecdote: George W. Bush expressed sympathy for President Biden’s ordeal in withdrawing US troops from Afghanistan, telling him, ‘I can understand what you’re going through. I got [expletive] by my intel people, too.’ As for Barrack Obama, Mr Biden is quoted as saying, ‘Barack never took Putin seriously’—which is true. Remember how Obama mocked Mitt Romney for warning about Putin during the 2012 election? Not so funny now, is it, Barry? Bob Woodward is one of the last true journalists, and I am grateful he remains at the top of his game, even at this late stage in his life.

American politics are broken beyond repair, because the American people are, by and large, broken individuals. I despise myself for not having fully foreseen all of this twenty-five or thirty years ago, as I would have done everything differently and prepared myself to leave this s**thole. (I did have some vague inkling, but I was still young and quite damaged from a not-so-happy childhood, and made a million bad decisions in spite of what my gut would tell me, but no matter). No chance of being able to settle anywhere else now; I am forced to wallow in the blood and mud with all the other pigs (to paraphrase a great song from better times).

FWIW: in contrast to 2016 and 2020, leftist filmmaker Michael Moore predicts that Trump is ‘toast’ in 2024 - To be fair, this is the man who predicted Trump’s win in 2016 when everyone thought he was crazy. However, four years ago, he predicted another Trump win and was wrong. I strongly suspect he is wrong again and underestimates just how hateful and self-destructive the people of this dying nation are. (If anyone disagrees, prove me wrong on 5th November!)

Saturday afternoon: Putin’s ‘special operation’ divides Russian families, India spreads its wings as a global menace, Hungary’s Orban stands for re-election, and AG Garland faces scrutiny for the pace of January 6 investigations

‘Our mothers have been zombified by propaganda, I am not discussing anything with my mother.’ - Putin’s war of aggression is tearing Russian families apart. I’m now of the firm conclusion that it is best to not discuss current affairs and politics with family members, which I should have practiced all along. The devotion to Vladimir Putin by the majority of Russia’s people is a wake-up call to us: While it is vital for the masses to overthrow the dictator, they are not going to. The Russian people are tired, having been bullied and gaslit for too long, and they are more fearful of us - the West - than anything else. Some of this also, no doubt, has to do with age-old prejudices or grievances with the Ukrainians that many Russians possess, and also nostalgia for the Soviet Union. Therefore, Putin was certain he had built-in cover to sell the ‘special operation’ to his subjects, and he was correct in that calculation. (Daily Beast 4/01)

The Kremlin gives praise to India’s government for not judging the ‘special operation’ in ‘a one-sided way’ - I keep saying that India is right on the cusp of being a major global menace, and they are showing their true stripes at this critical moment. Hungary’s Viktor Orban stands for reelection - With the eyes of the world on neighboring Ukraine, the nationalist populist Orban is manipulating laws, shutting down media outlets, and legalizing something called ‘voter tourism.’ Which is allowing foreigners to come into Hungarian villages for a day, cast their vote for Orban, and then go home. Hungarian citizens without a permanent residence in Hungary may also use mail-in ballots, a right not afforded to Hungarian citizens living within its borders. Isn’t this all essentially what the GOP is always accusing Democrats of doing, allowing illegal aliens to vote in our elections and screaming that mail-in voting is illegitimate? Yet it is American Republicans and ‘conservatives’ who have fallen in love with this Orban character. Any and all principles will be violated when there are votes and dollars to be had. House January 6 Commission puts the screws to reticent AG Merrick Garland - Frustration with the snail’s pace at which these investigations are unfolding is felt. As this article notes, however, this is ‘the largest criminal prosecution in the [DOJ] history.’ I’d prefer that members of the commission would address their concerns privately, instead of publicly grandstanding. Hard to expect any politician to refrain from grandstanding about anything, I know, but this is serious business. Justice is slow in coming, but it is coming. Realize - as Merrick Garland does - that when justice is served as it must be, millions of nationalist populists will be livid and will turn to (further) violence. These folks have already been foaming at the mouth since the pandemic began, and the election outcome and subsequent events are now driving them over the edge. The rhetoric from that side is becoming scary and law enforcement needs to prepare. I’m not going to put any pressure on the DOJ, because they’re bracing themselves for what is to come and preparing for the fallout. (AP 4/01)

AG Merrick Garland instructs U.S. attorneys to ‘prioritize prosecution of federal crimes occurring on aircraft’ as incidents involving unruly passengers explode

What a nation of violent and aggressively stupid jackasses we’ve become. America’s worst enemy is itself - 

A woman was kicked off an Allegiant Air flight and arrested Sunday for refusing to wear a face mask, police said. As she was wheeled down the jetway in Las Vegas, police said, the woman allegedly yelled obscenities and "Let's go, Brandon" — a euphemism involving the president, reported CBS affiliate KLAS. 

Katrina Alspaugh, of Las Vegas, faces one charge of violating airport rules, according to KLAS. Police said Alspaugh had earlier attempted to punch another passenger at the security checkpoint who pointed out Alspaugh was not wearing her mask. 

It is one in a stream of incidents of alleged unruly behavior in the skies, and came as the hectic holiday travel season starts. A Transportation Security Administration spokeswoman said Tuesday was the sixth straight day agents screened more than 2 million passengers, the longest stretch of days topping that mark this year. Tuesday's passenger volume was 91% of its 2019 level, the agency said Wednesday. 

The Federal Aviation Administration said this week it had received 5,338 reports of unruly passengers so far this year, 3,856 of which involved masks, and is requesting a total $161,823 in fines against eight passengers for alleged alcohol-related incidents. That brings the total civil penalties against passengers to at least $1.3 million in 2021. 

The largest of the fines announced this week, $40,823, stems from an April incident aboard a Southwest Airlines flight from San Jose to San Diego. A passenger allegedly drank their own alcohol during the flight despite being told by a flight attendant it was prohibited, then sexually assaulted the flight attendant and smoked marijuana in the bathroom, according to a news release.  

A passenger on a March flight from Fort Meyers, Florida, to Detroit that was diverted to Atlanta is accused of repeatedly taking off his face mask after crew members told him to keep it on, swearing at other passengers and accusing them of stealing, and appeared to be intoxicated, according to the release. 

"This is America. This is free speech. What don't you understand?" he allegedly yelled at a crew member. (Read more)
