The web tightens

A dark, symbolic illustration depicts a cavernous surveillance chamber dominated by a circular table bearing an intricate silver spider’s web and an array of chess pieces. Glowing monitors cover the surrounding walls with abstract data patterns, while fine strings descend from crossed beams overhead, suggesting manipulation and concealed control. An open steel vault emits an eerie green-white light as loose documents escape into the room, while an hourglass on the table evokes secrecy, power and time running out.

‘Penetrate the elite’: documents reveal international criminal Andrew Tate urged the lowlifes taking his online courses to engage in espionage against the rich and powerful; also instructed them on ‘building a bottom b**ch’. {Straight Arrow News 28 August}

https://san.com/cc/manosphere-influencer-andrew-tate-faces-sexual-misconduct-charges-a-data-leak-is-exposing-his-secrets/

FTA: A leak of sensitive information from “manosphere” influencer Andrew Tate’s online empire reveals that his “War Room” program teaches men to accumulate wealth, attract and control women and “penetrate” the elite, including by exploiting the sexual misbehavior of wealthy acquaintances.

The data provide new insight into the business operations of Andrew Tate, a British-American citizen who has reportedly cultivated relationships with Donald Trump Jr., Barron Trump and other figures on the American right even as he and his brother, Tristan, have defended themselves against accusations of sexual assault in two countries.

Material included in the leak shows that the “Penetrating the Elite” class in Tate’s War Room program — little known outside the organization — offers “espionage” training for subscribers aimed at digging up secrets on wealthy individuals for leverage in business deals. Another class teaches participants to categorize women into “exploitable types” who can be manipulated — and, if they don’t follow rules, disciplined.

A security researcher provided the data to Straight Arrow and to the leak-archiving organization DDoSecrets. The researcher detected the leak as the Tate brothers — Andrew is 39; Tristan, 38 — are being held in a federal detention center in Miami while they fight extradition to the United Kingdom to face charges involving at least four alleged victims. In a hearing this week, a federal prosecutor said Andrew Tate is accused in the U.K. of choking and holding victims and raping them, and his brother is accused of human trafficking, money laundering and violence against minors.

“They promote incredible violence against women consistent with the allegations against them,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Abbie Waxman told the judge.

Hoisted by his own petard

A stark editorial illustration depicts an airport departure hall in cold navy and steel-blue tones. At centre, two uniformed officers escort a silhouetted man towards an open doorway flooded with harsh white light, their elongated reflections stretching across the polished floor. An illuminated departures board hangs overhead, while empty seating, an aircraft and control tower appear through windows at left. On the right wall, a world map highlights North America and Australia in red, connected by a sweeping aircraft route. Red-and-white barriers cordon off the terminal. In the foreground, scattered papers surround an abandoned microphone and toppled stand, suggesting a public voice abruptly silenced as its owner is removed.

The Pacific's reckoning

A surreal allegorical illustration personifies El Niño through a dark-haired woman standing amid converging extremes of water, heat and storm. Wearing a translucent ivory dress, she rises from swirling floodwater illuminated by fiery currents, while ghostly counterparts appear across drought-stricken earth, tropical floods and rain-lashed seas. Above, incandescent orange clouds collide with violent blue-purple thunderstorms as a spiralling atmospheric current unites the contrasting climates. Beneath the water, glowing arteries and a human heart transform the ocean into a living circulatory system, symbolising the interconnected forces governing global weather.

‘Unprecedented’ El Niño forming over the Pacific, could lead to 2027 being the hottest year on record; ‘not beyond the realm of possibility to say this might be the strongest El Niño event in 500 or even 1,000 years’. {BBC 21 August}

https://www.bbc.com/weather/articles/c3ekg93vjz9o

FTA: The El Niño event that is developing over the Pacific Ocean is likely to be the strongest in living memory, the Met Office has warned.

The powerful natural climate phenomenon pushes up global temperatures and can increase the risks of extreme weather.

Added to the effects of human-induced climate change, the Met Office is warning that it is "very likely" to mean 2027 is the hottest year on record.

There is growing evidence that weather patterns around the world are already being affected, with below-average monsoon rains in India and suppressed hurricane activity in the Atlantic Ocean.

El Niño could put the UK at greater risk of a wet, stormy autumn.

"We should be clear that this is an unprecedented event", said Prof Adam Scaife, head of long-range forecasting at the UK Met Office.

"I have never seen an El Niño signal this intense in our forecasts."

El Niño is a naturally occurring weather pattern, which happens about every two to seven years, lasting for around a year.

Trade winds that typically blow from east to west across the Pacific Ocean can weaken or even reverse, allowing warm water to spread eastwards.

Heat is released from the ocean into the atmosphere, lifting global temperatures and shifting rainfall patterns.

Scientists declare an El Niño when sea surface temperatures in a key area of the Pacific are 0.5C or more above average.

Current measurements show that they are well over 2C above normal.

Latest forecasts from the Met Office suggest that these temperature anomalies could exceed 3C later this year as El Niño nears its peak.

This would be unprecedented in records going back to 1950, and probably the strongest event since the 19th century.

Britain’s second-largest airport is rapidly running out of fuel. {The Express 2 August}

https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/2235352/london-gatwick-airport-fuel-shortage

The biggest error made was assuming perpetual growth and prosperity. FTA:

Gatwick Airport has warned that it's facing a fuel shortage amid the busy summer holiday season. The UK's second-largest airport issued a notice to pilots, telling them to fill up at other airports where possible, The Sun reports.

It stated: "Gatwick has a shortage of fuel for the next two days. Please uplift max possible fuel at outstations." Another "emergency" alert added that airline bosses should be prepared for "potential disruption to the Gatwick fuel supply".

Long-haul flights are understood to be the worst affected, as pilots will have to stock as much fuel as possible at foreign destinations without exceeding weight limits.

A source told The Sun: "Most flights beyond 2.5 hours will still need extra fuel in Gatwick. The fuel shortage warning came with many long-haul flights already en route to the UK, meaning crews were unable to bring extra fuel with them.

"Pilots will be trying to supplement as much fuel as they can down-route to protect the long-haul flights and stretch out supply.

"The longer the fuel shortage lasts, the tighter it will get. It means there is a good chance of disruption, particularly Monday onwards."

Storm over Ceuta

A symbolic seaside illustration showing a dark-haired woman kneeling alone upon a sandy beach, wrapped in a delicate translucent white shawl that billows around her in the sea breeze. She gazes thoughtfully towards the surf while holding a damp strand of hair, with black diving fins resting beside her and discarded rubber inner tubes scattered across the shoreline. Behind her, shafts of sunlight break dramatically through towering storm clouds, illuminating dozens of distant figures wading ashore through the shallow waves. The contrast between the solitary foreground figure and the mass of arrivals beyond evokes themes of migration, uncertainty, humanitarian crisis, and the fragile hope represented by light piercing the gathering storm.

https://www.turkiyetoday.com/opinion/the-gibraltar-calculus-is-spains-ceuta-included-in-the-abraham-accords-3225028?s=1

Raise hell over migrants coming into the former United States, but facilitate their entering another country and disrupting its economy and security. And for what purpose? Nothing is ever for a good purpose with Trump or those working alongside him. Violating the territorial integrity of a NATO state — under the heretofore unheard-of pretence that the area now being overrun with migrants does not belong to Spain but to Morocco, whose government is evidently complicit in the scheme — is especially nefarious when America is supposed to be Spain's ally and partner. America and Europe have been solid allies throughout the post-war era, but that era is over and the two sides are increasingly being cast as adversaries in a new cold war — or perhaps a hot one; time shall tell. Who else benefits from this new world of America and Europe at odds? Russia, China, possibly India, the Islamists, and anybody else with an interest in dividing and conquering the Western world.

The scorching of green and pleasant land

An elegant Art Nouveau-inspired illustration portrays a distraught blonde woman walking barefoot along a sunlit cobbled lane through an idyllic English village. She wears a delicate cream slip with lace trim, damp against her skin, one hand pressed to her chest while the other gathers the hem of her dress. Tears stream down her flushed face as she gazes upwards with an expression of exhaustion, sorrow, and desperate longing. Timber-framed cottages overflow with roses, hollyhocks, foxgloves, and cottage flowers, while a tall medieval church spire rises in the distance beneath a shimmering golden sky that suggests oppressive summer heat. An ornate floral border of flowing vines, blossoms, and whiplash curves frames the entire composition, reinforcing its refined Art Nouveau aesthetic.

Their fortune, her prison

A detailed dystopian cyberpunk illustration of a rain-soaked futuristic city dominated by a colossal fractured Saturn looming in the night sky, its crimson rings casting ominous light across skyscrapers. Foreground, two imposing men in dark suits stand atop a sleek black supercar. One gripeth a steering wheel; the other manipulateth glowing puppet strings descending into the city. Shattered holographic panels with distressed human silhouettes float about—confinement and exploitation. Chains of metallic pound symbols snake through the composition. Neon-lit buildings display currency signs; monumental structures evoke courtrooms and prisons. Police lights reflect on wet streets crowded with spectators. A dark allegory of wealth, power, surveillance, and social control—vivid purples, crimson, harsh neon.

Accountability on one side of the Atlantic, whilst America hath become a republic without consequences for its reprobate leader

British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer embraceth his wife in an intimate and emotional moment following the announcement of his resignation on 22 June 2026. The photograph is tightly framed from the shoulders upward. Starmer, in a dark suit and black-rimmed glasses, closeth his eyes as he leaneth into the embrace—fatigue, relief, deep emotion. His wife, in a white blouse, wrappeth both arms about him, her face turned away. His hand resteth firmly across her back—mutual support and personal solidarity. Behind, the dark vertical bars of the Downing Street gates form a subdued backdrop, isolating the couple. A major political moment transformed into a private human one—the emotional weight of public service, resignation, and the sustaining role of family amid profound change.

Starmer to step down as Prime Minister; Andy Burnham sworn in as MP, likely to become next Labour leader and PM. {The Guardian 22 June}

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2026/jun/22/keir-starmer-resigns-as-prime-minister

Sir Keir Starmer had more than his share of political problems on his plate, but make no mistake: the controversy over the appointment of the former Lord Mandelson as ambassador to the former United States was his undoing.

One of the world’s most powerful men — perhaps, in the void left by America in the age of Trump, the de facto leader of the free world — has been brought down by the Epstein fallout. Meanwhile, Trump continues to sit in office, despite everybody knowing that he and Epstein were best friends prior to their falling out,  yet there remains virtual silence from the American people. Whether it is being a  likely paedophile, or fashioning a coup attempt, or betraying our allies in the world, or implementing nation-killing economic policies, or starting unwinnable wars, Americans just do not care when it comes to this man; they will never forsake him. Our country hath been reduced to a glorified personality cult.

I know not whether Sir Keir deserved such a harsh fate, for from where I am sitting — in the aforementioned Trumpistan — he seemed quite a competent and capable leader; certainly a step up from his two immediate predecessors of the dying Conservative Party. Perhaps he really did not fully consider just how deeply tied Mandelson was to Jeffrey Epstein. I certainly cannot believe, had he full understanding of the Mandelson-Epstein relationship, that he would deliberately risk political capital by appointing someone with so many skeletons in the cupboard to such an important diplomatic post. In the UK, there are still consequences for poor decision making, and there are no Donald Trumps being held above the law and worshipped as a god by an embarrassingly large percentage of society.

Ask Britons about anything, of course, and they shall say the sky is falling most every time. From afar, I would suggest otherwise: the United Kingdom has some very serious and pressing issues, but at least its political leaders are still held accountable.

On some levels, I would say that this is a sign of a reasonably healthy, functioning democratic society. And I cannot help but be a little envious of my ancestral homeland for that. Life is not much fun on this side of the Atlantic these days, and getting worse by the day.

After the American century, the old world ascends once more

A symbolic political fantasy contrasting European confidence with American decline. Foreground, a dark-haired woman in an elegant midnight-blue gown with golden stars standeth beside an ornate throne-like chair. A crown of stars resteth upon her head; her posture speaketh authority, pride, and self-assurance. Rich blue drapery bearing gold stars frameth the scene—the European Union. Behind, a battered Lady Liberty trudgeth through ruins, her white gown torn and stained, her crown damaged, carrying a fallen torch. Her weary, distressed expression speaketh exhaustion after crisis. Shattered columns, broken symbols, and crumbling ruins surround her. A grand domed basilica and classical cityscape dominate the horizon beneath golden sunlight breaking through storm clouds. The European figure appeareth triumphant; the ruined landscape speaketh decline—geopolitical fortune, power, and prestige.

The light beyond the tempest

An epic maritime fantasy painting of a modern Royal Navy interception unfolding in storm-tossed waters beneath towering rain-laden clouds. A grey British warship dominateth the foreground, her decks crowded with sailors, the Union Jack flying from the stern. A large tanker loometh nearby; inflatable boats ferry armed teams toward the vessel, ladders already deployed. Golden sunlight pierceth breaks in the storm clouds, illuminating the turbulent sea—triumph, authority, resolve. On a windswept cliff, a small group of elegantly dressed women embrace and kiss, a secondary celebratory motif. Historic naval grandeur meeteth contemporary subject matter: maritime power, difficult weather, and national achievement. Cinematic scale and atmospheric lighting evoke modern British glory.

Trump insists he is ‘FIXING’ the affordability crisis, despite all available evidence indicating quite the opposite

A stylised, painterly illustration depicts a blonde young woman standing at a petrol station, rendered with the polished sheen of mid-century advertising art. She wears a bright red dress and a matching ‘Make America Great Again’ cap, her expression one of breezy, almost theatrical self-assurance. One arm cradles two paper bags of groceries; the other is lifted in a gesture of blithe resignation, as though commenting on the scene around her. Behind her, a large sign declaims ‘AN ARM AND A LEG — BIDEN’S FAULT’, while the price board advertises petrol at $2.95, the lettering bold and deliberately simplified. Red and blue pumps flank the composition, and a discarded fast-food wrapper lies on the forecourt. The image blends kitsch Americana with pointed political satire, transforming a quotidian errand into a tableau of populist grievance and glossy pin-up aesthetics.

{The Hill 6 December} ‘Trump says Biden to blame for affordability crisis: “I’M FIXING IT”’

Such an egregious falsehood—one that anyone who has set foot in a grocery store or gas station knows to be demonstrably untrue—nonetheless passes unchallenged within his circle, for his supporters will dutifully echo any absurdity, however brazen, so long as it serves the puerile objective of ‘owning the libs’. Neither he nor they exhibit the slightest concern for the welfare of the broader citizenry.

Trumpism has long since metastasised into a Christian-nationalist, predominantly white supremacist movement, determined to subject the entirety of the American populace to its tyrannical will. If Trump declares that two plus two equals three, one is expected—indeed compelled—to affirm that it is three. That is the trajectory upon which the former republic now finds itself.

And the millions who cast their ballots for this orange demagogue are receiving exactly what they sought: the persecution and marginalisation of all who fall outside their narrow, exclusionary tribe.

Sir Winston Churchill on the reality of public opinion

A satirical digital portrait of Winston Churchill reimagined in the twenty-first century, his legendary bulldog scowl trained not upon the enemy but a glowing smartphone. The artist renders him with remarkable fidelity: the bowler hat, polka-dotted bow tie, and omnipresent cigar—all hallmarks of Churchillian defiance—are intact, yet their gravitas is comically undercut by the incongruity of modern technology. Behind him, the Union Jack looms in vivid hues of red, white, and blue, emblematic of the indomitable British spirit he once personified. The light catches the creases of his brow and the curl of smoke from his cigar, giving the scene both humour and gravitas. The composition suggests an allegory of the digital age—an icon of steadfast conviction confronted by the triviality and distraction of the contemporary world, frowning as though the fate of civilisation itself depended upon what he sees on the screen.
image generated via ChatGPT

“There is no such thing as public opinion. There is only published opinion,” stated Winston Churchill—a remark that lands with eerie foresight in the age of dictatorial algorithms and mass hysteria, wherein opinion is made a merchandised trade, and the mob a marketplace. One may well conceive the old war-dog beholding the endless scroll of social babble, and judging—after his wonted fashion and without the least strain of hyperbole—that our civilisation had clean parted company with its wits.

Born on 30 November 1874 amidst the rolling fields of West Oxfordshire, and sprung of an American mother of notable grace and an English father of noble blood yet scant forbearance, Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill embodied a species of Englishman now almost extinct. A lover of cigars, whisky, and the English language in equal measure, he stood as the living antithesis of his nemesis, the teetotal vegetarian tyrant across the Channel. Churchill’s vices were human; his virtues, monumental.

By any reckoning, the twentieth century’s most formidable statesman—a relic of another age even whilst he lived, and yet utterly needful to his own time. In an era that prized shallow cries above substance, he wielded words as others wield artillery; and when civilisation hung by a thread, it was his voice—gravelled, resolute, and adamant—that held the rampart fast.

In today’s absurd universe, one with many echoes of the atmosphere that led to the Second World War, Churchill’s spectre is more needed than ever. Yet I discern much of his iron resolve in Volodymyr Zelensky: a witness that greatness, however blemished, once walked amongst mortal men, and that valour, when once uttered aloud, may yet ring forth with truth.

John Milton’s Areopagitica: a voice of reason from a fractured age, yet also for our present fractured age

A monochrome engraving of the poet John Milton, rendered with solemn clarity and restrained elegance. His visage is long and grave, the expression reflective rather than austere, the eyes set deep beneath a smooth brow, seeming to gaze past the viewer toward some unseen ideal. Loose curls fall symmetrically upon his shoulders, framing a face of spiritual gravity and intellectual refinement. The artist has captured not merely likeness but character—the inward tension of a man divided between faith and reason, rebellion and divine order. His broad lace collar and simple doublet evoke the Puritan sobriety of seventeenth-century England, yet the drawing’s soft gradations of line lend him an almost pre-Raphaelite serenity. It is an image at once human and emblematic: the countenance of the visionary who gave the English tongue its most exalted epic, the poet who sought to ‘justify the ways of God to men’.
public domain

Published on this day in 1644, Areopagitica remains John Milton’s impassioned admonition to heed ‘the voice of reason’, and his powerful denunciation of the English Parliament’s decree (the Licensing Order of 1643) that all authors must first obtain governmental approval before publishing their works. It was composed at the height of the English Civil War, an age of violent ideological fervour and division that was, perhaps, a grim portent of what we now witness unfolding across the globe—most acutely, and relevant to yours truly, within the former United States of America.

It was a fiercely partisan era, yet Areopagitica is the work of a man of nuance and integrity—the very sort of soul who is rare in any epoch, and indispensable in times such as those of seventeenth-century England. Indeed, such men and women are just as vital in our own age of omnipresent technology, nuclear armament, and zealots as unenlightened now as they were in 1644 (or perhaps worse).

Family tradition long held that John Milton was among my ancestors, and though I have found the name ‘Milton’ in my lineage, I have traced it only as far back as the early nineteenth century, in northern Maine and the Maritimes. Doubtless, the line originated somewhere in England—I have confirmed ancestry from virtually every corner of the old country. No matter; I cannot say with certainty that he is a forebear of mine. Yet, I offer humble thanks to the man for what he bestowed upon humanity: ideas that still resonate in certain circles today (amongst the dwindling numbers who still think, that is). I rather suspect he would be appalled at the state of our world today.

West Yorkshire: former ‘emo’ band frontman and convicted paedophile Ian Watkins killed in prison stabbing attack

An illustration in the expressive, painterly style of Fritz Willis, depicting a sorrowful teenage girl from the early 2000s ‘emo’ subculture. She sits slumped on the floor, her black hair framing a tear-streaked face heavy with disillusionment. Dressed in a black top with purple-striped sleeves, fishnet tights, and scuffed Converse trainers, she embodies the aesthetic of youthful melancholy. In her hand she clutches a Lostprophets album, its cover bearing the image of the band’s frontman, while another record lies abandoned beside her. The composition captures the instant of betrayal that comes when one’s idols collapse under the weight of their own depravity—the anguish of an innocent fan confronting the corruption of what once gave her solace. Warm sepia tones and soft shading lend the scene a bittersweet intimacy, transforming adolescent grief into a timeless study of lost faith and violated trust.
image generated via ChatGPT

{Sky News 11 October} ‘Lostprophets singer Ian Watkins dies after attack in prison’

I could not name a single Lostprophets song: their music remains a complete and blessedly vacant space in my memory—a footnote I never cared to read. They were one of those wretchedly formulaic ‘emo’ outfits that flourished among the younger cohort in the 2000s—the kids who were approximately ten years my junior, give or take—appealing to adolescent angst through distortion pedals and cosmetic despair. The sort of sound, such as I heard of it, that is utterly alien to my own more symphonic and intricate musical inclinations.

But while their ‘art’ passed me by entirely, I remember with sickening clarity the revelations that did emerge concerning their frontman, Ian Watkins. The crimes were of a wickedness so foul, so venomous to the very essence of mankind, that even the most jaded reader of true-crime reportage might have flinched. I will not reiterate the particulars—they are readily found elsewhere, and one need not pollute the mind—but suffice it to say they represented the nadir of human degeneracy.

Justice eventually found Ian Watkins, albeit years too late for the innocence he annihilated. Some creatures are beyond reclamation; alas, many of them are in positions of power and shall never—at least in this mortal span—be brought to bear for their iniquities. Each of us might name a rogue of that breed, perhaps an orange and elderly one, yeah? And there is no rhyme or reason whatsoever as to who God blesses with fortune and favour, as opposed to those He oppresses. More often than not throughout the history of humanity, good people suffer while the cruel ascend, arrayed in gold and glory for their wickedness. The cosmos keeps no ledger of justice—only irony.

Providence, it seems, doth mete out mercy with no more discernment than a drunkard casting darts. Yet, every now and again, it striketh a bull’s eye. —Arthur Newhook, 11 October 2025.

Manchester, England, on Yom Kippur: at least two dead in synagogue attack. The blood of this day stains many hands

{BBC 2 October} “What we know about Manchester synagogue attack”

TO THE RIGHT-WING EXTREMISTS, you keyboard Nazis: persist with your preposterous, long-debunked anti-Semitic conspiracy theories, by all means. TO THE FAR-LEFT ZEALOTS who assiduously ascribe all blame for Gaza’s horrors to Israel and Zionism while exculpating Hamas and its Islamist cohorts — continue your plaints. Do so, and you will only ensure that more Jews and other innocents pay with their lives. Blood is on the hands of many today, and each and every time acts of hatred are inflicted upon the Jewish people.

My grandfathers and uncles—one of them lost upon the beaches of Normandy—fought and prevailed in history’s greatest struggle to consign Fascism and anti-Semitism to oblivion; yet here we stand once more before their spectre. Lord, I have long felt Your enmity towards me from the hour of my birth, but have You now abandoned the world entire? It assuredly appears so. —Arthur Newhook, 2 October 2025.

{alternate text for above image} A solemn group of men, clad in sombre suits, stand with arms entwined in a gesture of solidarity and grief, their bowed heads framed by the distinctive kippot that mark their faith. Photographed from behind, their figures lean into one another as though bracing against an unseen storm, embodying the collective weight of loss following the attack on a synagogue in Manchester on 2 October 2025. The quiet intimacy of their embrace, against the blurred greenery beyond, speaks less of spectacle than of endurance—an affirmation of identity and shared sorrow in the face of violence.

Roger Waters, not content with causing damage to the legacy of one of the world’s all-time greatest musical acts, now flirting with prison time in his relentless campaign with Israel; and speaking of disgrace, Kemi Badenoch makes a fool of herself yet again

Medios y Media/Getty Images

A couple of matters from my ancestral homeland that are bothering me at present:

Roger Waters could face prosecution in the UK after voicing support for the proscribed terrorist organisation Palestine Action—Enough, Roger. Stand down: you're in your eighties, and your reckless antisemitism (he can deny he hates Jews until he is blue in the face, he does) and misguided sympathy for the rank-and-file Palestinians who have been enabling Islamist extremist since Israel's founding and well before that even—have already cost David Gilmour and the Pink Floyd brand countless millions in recent years. Do not pursue martyrdom; exit the public stage and spend your remaining years in quiet retirement, and stop sullying the name and image of a legendary and noble brand. {Euronews 9 July}

Meanwhile, in her latest address, Leader of the Opposition Kemi Badenoch has insulted disabled Britons and dared disgruntled Tories to defect to Reform UK. How much longer will the British people—and her own Conservative Party—tolerate this woman, of all people, branding a fair portion of them as lazy and appointing herself the supreme arbiter of British values? I do not even live in the UK (though I do not mind one bit imparting the truth that I am far more British by blood than a sizable share of modern British nationals, and certainly Kemi Badenoch) but listening to her spew this bile makes my blood boil. All she has achieved is accelerating the slow suicide of one of the world’s oldest and most storied political parties. Frankly, I could not care less if anyone takes issue with my tone. This is an international disgrace, a prime example of how much of the world—and the English-speaking world, at that—is now living under kakistocracy. {Sky News 10 July}

A GREAT MOMENT FOR HUMAN DIGNITY, PERSONAL AUTONOMY, AND SELF-DETERMINATION: THE UK HOUSE OF COMMONS HAS VOTED TO ADVANCE A BILL TO THE HOUSE OF LORDS THAT WOULD LEGALISE ASSISTED DYING FOR THE TERMINALLY ILL IN GREAT BRITAIN

Wikimedia Commons

{BBC News 20 June} Bodily autonomy should be a fundamental human right - the absolute ownership of one's own physical and mental being. Yet America's regressive majority, fuelled by religious and political extremism, consistently denies this basic freedom.

The Terri Schiavo case exemplified this cruelty two decades ago: Republican politicians and Christian fundamentalists fought to keep a vegetative woman 'alive', perversely branding it compassion. Forcing the terminally ill to suffer under the guise of 'sanctity of life' is among the most inhumane acts imaginable.

Today, I commend those UK MPs taking this courageous step toward reducing preventable suffering - a small but vital victory for human dignity.

UK announces stricter immigration policy

photo: AP

{Sky News 12 May} PM: 'Without strong migration rules, we risk becoming an island of strangers'

Sir Keir’s immigration crackdown announcement came with decidedly forced conviction—all stiff delivery and hollow passion, as is his wont. Seems to me, in eternal exile an ocean away, Britain has often been ‘an island of strangers’ throughout its history, at certain junctures more so than others. Make no mistake, this is a necessary declaration—and perhaps these moves might blunt ReformUK’s momentum and appeal to centre-right voters. At this perilous juncture—with fascism resurgent and commandeering history’s most destructive war machine—keeping parties like ReformUK and Germany’s AfD from power is vital. The regime in Washington is openly voicing support for the AfD, and are at least flirting with Nigel Farage, and Sir Keir and Labour tread a precarious tightrope.

Boris Johnson slams Vladimir Putin's imperial dreams, while the right-wing in US betrays Ukraine and kisses Putin’s ring

AP/Reuters

{Sky News 12 January} Boris Johnson brands Vladimir Putin a 'f****** idiot' over alleged imperial ambitions

Boris Johnson colorfully denounces Putin as a dullard of the highest order for his vainglorious dreams of imperial restoration - Beyond Ukraine itself and the sphere of Russian dissidents, none stands more steadfast in support of Ukraine than Boris Johnson. Though his character may bear other blemishes, his resolve on this matter is unassailable.

Yet mark ye well: Putin is no mere fool—nay, a cunning serpent, more like. Methinks what Boris is getting at is that Putin’s lofty ambitions, akin to castles raised upon shifting sands, must surely crumble. While the tyrant may sow death and misery without end, victory shall forever elude his grasp.

Even in the wake of the bloody and shameful betrayal by the American people, and with the incoming regime in Washington poised to drastically alter the course of US policy, yet shall the brave souls of Ukraine stand firm. They shall fight, tooth and nail, to prevent the resurrection of the Soviet Union—a grim and dark chapter of history that must never again be inscribed.

To put it mildly, it is quite rich that those who now all themselves ‘conservatives’ in the US, who once held opposition to the Soviet menace as sacred as Holy Writ, are now hell-bent on lending their aid to Master Putin in his designs to resurrect the very spectre they and their forebears spent decades striking to vanquish.

Do not presume to tell me, #MAGA zealots, that ‘Russiagate’ was a mere hoax. No, it is both real and ongoing. The stain of blood is upon thy hands, and all thy protestations shall not wash them clean.

Elon threatens the United Kingdom, and NOW is the time to put a full stop to this madness

I can scarcely marshal coherent thought—such is the magnitude of my astonishment and anger at this moment in time. President-elect Musk and his ignominious orange marionette, acting in concert with other shadowy forces (Putin), are now brazenly threatening to invade and annex not merely Canada and Greenland, but also the United Kingdom. And how do we in America respond? By somnambulating into submission, placated by the (false) promises of cheap fuel, eggs, or whatever trivial justification prompted so many to cast their ballots—so they thought—for Donald Trump. And what, I ask, is President Biden doing in response? Assert your authority whilst it yet remains, Mr President! Arrest Elon Musk forthwith—he is a menace to humanity and a terrorist. Should any American dare to lay hands upon Great Britain, I shall defend my ancestral homeland to the very death! God Save the King, you fascist pigs!
