In Brussels, President Biden announced an energy deal with the European Union to increase American natural gas exports to Europe, thus decreasing the continent’s reliance on Russia for their energy needs

A massive achievement, and is going to go a long way toward mitigating the economic fallout of having to cut Russia out of global markets. President Biden deserves a lot of credit from the American people, the media, members of Congress, etc., but of course he will not receive it and this news is going to pass by largely unnoticed on these shores. As soon as gas prices fall, people are not thankful, they just merely move on to raging against the next big story of the day. The Ukrainian people, and the people of Europe – who have more skin in the game – by and large know better. Believe it, Vladimir Putin is not a happy man upon learning this news. More from UPI

March 25 (UPI) -- The United States and the European Union announced a new agreement Friday aimed at reducing Europe's dependency on Russian fossil fuels over the war in Ukraine.

The deal was announced amid U.S President Joe Biden's trip to Europe that is aimed at fortifying an allied response to aid Ukraine and punish Russia for its invasion of its neighbor.

Biden and EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen produced a joint statement Thursday following their meeting that expressed their unity in condemning Russia's "unjustified and unprovoked war of aggression against Ukraine."

It also mentioned that they will work to establish a joint task for to address the immediate security needs of the EU.

"The Task Force will be chaired by a representative from the White House and a representative of the president of the European Commission," the United States and European Commission said in a joint statement. (Read more)
